We all know behind every good writer is a fantastic editor. These word processing apps could never take your editor’s place, but they could certainly make the job easier.
1. Hemingway Editor
Hemingway Editor is designed to help writers ensure their writing is bold and clear. In the spirit of Ernest Hemingway, the app highlights lengthy sentences, adverbs, weakening phrases and passive voice.
2. Cliche Finder
Cliche Finder finds and highlights cliches in your writing. Simply paste your text into the tool and click “find cliches” to check your originality.
3. Readable
Readable is a text scoring tool designed to tell writers how easy your text is to read and provide tips for improving readability. The app also includes a Gender Analyzer tool which compares entered text to a data set of written works of known origin, looking at specific word frequencies to estimate the writer’s gender.
